Summary:
The Treaty of 1863 at Old Crossing ceded most of the land of Red River Valley of the North from the Chippewa Nation to the pressures of advancing pioneer civilization and lumber interests. Wounds do not begin to heal until they are first identified. Through articles of varied perspectives, this book seeks to understand the history and implications of this contentious event in order to create a better understanding and awareness for the future. Also contains transcripts of official documents, letters, speeches and first hand accounts.
